Don't let and auto accident at Mardi Gras spoil your fun.

Around Mardi Gras, the city of New Orleans comes alive with excitement and fun. Unfortunately, there is usually an increase in motor vehicle accidents during that time of year as well. This year was no exception.

According to The Times-Picayune, one fatal accident took the life of a fifty-year-old woman in New Orleans. Police who investigated the incident did not find the other vehicle at the scene. It happened around 3 o'clock in the afternoon at the intersection of Canal and Gayoso Streets.

The article states that the local police were seen questioning the driver of a silver Ford Escape with Georgia license plates in a nearby parking lot later that afternoon. The parking lot was only about a mile away from the site of the accident, and the vehicle had a sizable dent in the hood.

The original article was later updated to say that the driver of the Ford Escape was charged with vehicular homicide. He was drunk at the time of the accident.
